The Razor Train is a mysterious diesel engine told in a story by Takao.

Bio[]

The Razor Train is described as something of a Grim Reaper of locomotives. When an engine has been scrapped, the Razor Train appears with its horn blasting, which is described as low but loud, "like a big, dying, wounded animal". It collects the souls of engines in a long, never-ending train, and is only seen at night, going at high-speed through scrap and smelting yards.

In shape, the Razor Train take the appearance of a tall, narrow diesel with a single glowing light on its front. It has no buffers, but has a pointed metal snowplow-like plate. Some parts are covered in scrap metal, including the wheels, obscuring them from view. It's unknown if it has a face, but Takao says such an engine's face would be "monstrous".

Takao heard the story from some workmen at the Tanishima Railway and Art Museum, and shared it with the other engines, scaring most of them.

Basis[]

The Razor Train is not based on any real diesel locomotive. It is, however, directly inspired by the Razor Train from the Half-Life video game series. In the Half-Life series, they are built by the Combine and used to transport people and prisoners to the prison/laboratory Nova Prospekt, and Soldiers and Stalkers to the Citadel.

Livery[]

The Razor Train is described as being painted black all over with some "blood red".
